Adrenalin rush on Furano back country ski trails

Furano receives an abundant quality of powder each season due to its inland location on the well renown ‘powder belt’ in central Hokkaido, just 2 hours from Sapporo airport. This area boasts more bluebird days that any other Japanese ski resort, and is fast becoming a popular choice for skiers and boarders alike.

With its 957 vertical drop, over 23 perfectly groomed trails, two resorts (Kitanomine and Furano zones) and 10 lifts which include the fastest cable car currently located in Japan, Furano offers a nice range of terrain to include: 40% green, 40% red (blue), and 20% advanced. However, on powder days they usually leave a couple of trails ungroomed for those that enjoy fresh powder.

Families will love Furano for its friendly facilities which include an english speaking ski school, as well as a daycare facility, with plenty of on and off snow activities in store to keep the little ones occupied for days.

For those who are wanting to source fresh powder and backcountry terrain then Furano would make a great base to the discover other ski resorts with Kamui, Tomamu, and Asahidake all within day trip distance. Multi resort tickets are available for purchase, and regular shuttles from Furano make exploring the Furano region exciting, simple, and most importantly affordable.
