Getting to Steamboat


Steamboat is located in northwest of Colorado, and it is an easy three-hour drive, 160 miles/267kms from Denver.

Steamboat is also accessible by nonstop air services from seven major U.S. airports on American, Continental, Delta, Frontier and United Airlines, and international connections are possible through Los Angeles, flight and time dependant.

Free Mountain Tours / Ski Hosts


Mavericks Superpipe is a freerider’s dream. Mavericks is 450 feet long, 56-feet wide and has 18-foot walls, and a 22-foot transition. Steamboat’s terrain park adjacent to Mavericks features an outdoor sound system, a variety of rails-kinked, sliders, rainbows, “s” mailboxes, double barrel, and Mini-Mav, a miniature version of the superpipe with eight-foot walls, perfect for novice riders.


Steamboats friendly Ambassador staff offers FUN Mountain Tours every day at 10:30am. Tours are free and last about an hour and a half. Intermediate and advanced skiers and riders are welcome.
Learn everything you want to know about the mountain, the resort, the Yampa Valley and its history. Just show up at the “Mountain Tour” sign at the top of the Vagabond Trail (top of the gondola) and look for our bright yellow jackets.


Steamboat offers guided skiing for anyone over the age of 50 at no charge, Sundays through Fridays, throughout the season.
Steamboat’s Over the Hill Gang has created a ski program that is the only one of its kind in the country. The relaxed, friendly format offered at Steamboat is open to anyone, and you do not have to be a member of O.T.H.G. in order to participate.

In Ski Town, U.S.A.® kids are the center of attention and it’s no different at the Ski & Snowboard School, where your kids are treated like they are our own.
Kids’ Vacation Center (Age 2-6)

Steamboat’s kids programs are second to none, and with a purpose-built kids facility called the Kids’ Vacation Center, the entire program is designed around taking care of children, in a safe, nurturing environment, every second they’re here.


Sundance Kids

4 years-Kindergarten
The Sundance program offers aspiring young skiers the best coaching and facilities to progress their skiing in special kid-specific teaching areas and lifts. No lift ticket required.

Lunch included. Helmet required. Equipment not included. Reservations required. Rental equipment is available. Lessons 9am – 3pm. Early drop-off available from 8:15am.

3½-4 years
The Maverick program is a full-day group lesson and operates in a similar fashion to Sundance Kids, with smaller group sizes, a little less ski time (two one-hour sessions) and a lot of fun! All Mavericks must be willing to ski and be fully potty-trained.

Lunch included. Helmet required. Equipment is not included. No lift ticket required. Kids’ Vacation Center rental equipment is available. Lessons 9am – 3pm. Early drop-off availble from 8:15am.
Bandits Snowboard Kids

5 years-Kindergarten

Aspiring young snowboarders are provided with the best coaching and special teaching areas and lifts for beginner levels. Snowboard equipment included. No lift ticket required. Max group size of 4. All-day lesson, including lunch and lift ticket. Lessons 9am – 3pm. Early drop-off availble from 8:15am.
Jackalopes Ski Weeks


5-6 years

This program is designed for eager 5 to 6 year-olds that have the desire and stamina to ski five full-days with new friends! The Jackalope Ski Week package includes five all-day clinics (Monday-Friday), a treasure hunt, a race, and a colorful Steamboat bandana. Participants are grouped by ability and remain with the same instructor for the week to the best of their ability. No lift ticket required.

Palomino Pals

3-3½ years
All day Kiddie Coral Child Care with Lunch, plus an on-snow semi-private ski lesson (2-3 children) for 1.5 hours. Lunch included. Ski equipment & helmet is included during lesson time only. No lift ticket required.


Whippersnapper Private

2½-4 years

The perfect opportunity to learn to ski for young whippersnappers! Experienced staff will instruct your child in a one-hour private lesson. This is a great option for your child to first try skiing or if they’d like a little extra attention as they improve their skiing skills.
Helmet required. Equipment is included.

2-4 years
The best first experience for your child on skis. Buckaroos participants enjoy all-day childcare as well as a one-hour private ski lesson provided by specially-trained instructors

Kiddie Corral

6 months-6 years

Professionals provide kids in this program with excellent childcare. Each childcare room provides age-appropriate activities and lots of fun. Full-day Kiddie Corral runs from 8:00am-4:00pm and includes lunch. Parents must provide meals for children under 12 months old.

Snow Flower at Steamboat Gondola – Moderate/lead in ‘slopeside’ property

Snowflower Condominiums are in a prime location just across the road from Steamboats Gondola base, Kids Vacation Center, Ski School and Gondola Square shops and restaurants. The units are of a clean and tidy ‘lead-in’ standard, and all units include fully equipped kitchen, cable TV, DVD, HBO, telephone and gas burning fireplace. Furthermore, the LaMontana restaurant and Market on the Mountain gourmet convenience grocery and liquor store are right across the street.

Snowflower Condos at Steamboat Mountain Resort

Timberline at Trappeurs Crossing – Superior Condo property

Located 5 minutes away from Gondola square, Timberline at Trappeur’s Crossing offer a very high standard of accommodation at a reasonable rate. There is a resort shuttle which drops of and collect guests from the Gondola square, which is free of charge. Furthermore, the resort shuttle also offers guests free downtown Steamboat Springs transfers for shopping or evening meals.

Each unit has fully equipped kitchen, private balcony, gas fireplace, washer/dryer, cable TV/DVD, and a spa tub in the master bedroom.
